Celebrating the End of Season One Integrative Medicine Matters Podcast
As Season One of my podcast Integrative Medicine Matters draws to a close, I wanted to reflect on my journey as a new podcaster! From exploring the healing power of nature, to rethinking pain and spotlighting the role of nutrition, each conversation offered me (and hopefully my listeners!) a new lens on what “whole-person health” really means.
What’s become clear over this season is that Integrative Medicine is not a niche interest, it is about a shift in paradigm. People are starting to see health as dynamic, multifaceted, nuanced and rooted not only in medicine, but in lifestyle, mind, community and our relationship with nature. In the coming seasons, we hope to go even deeper, exploring more voices, more disciplines, more stories of transformation. If you missed any episodes, now is the perfect time to binge the full archive and learn what Integrative Medicine is! Here is my summary of Season One:
We started with a personal journey into integrative medicine with Dr Sally Moorcroft and why a holistic, whole-person approach matters in modern healthcare.
My discussion with Don Gordon delved into fasting, inflammation, metabolic health and the potential of ancestral wisdom for modern wellbeing.
With Dr Deepak Ravindran, the conversation was based around the psychological, lifestyle and trauma-related roots of pain and the need for compassionate, integrative care.
My podcast with George Thompson, we spoke about how practices like Tai Chi and Daoist philosophy can support healing, balance, mental health and connection between both people and planet.
Understanding psychological trauma was my conversation with Dr Susanna Petche, who explained how using trauma-informed care, lifestyle medicine and holistic support to address how trauma affects physical and mental health.
With Pauline Cox, we spoke about how integrative nutrition and lifestyle can support overall health, especially in hormonal changes and ageing.
My podcast with Professor Robert Thomas, we addressed how integrative lifestyle approaches – nutrition, movement, gut health – can complement conventional oncology, helping patients navigate treatment and recovery.
Izabella Natrins, broke down how health coaching, context and long-term behavioural support can transform healthcare delivery and empower patients.
The episode with Dr Viv Rolfe, unpacked the healing potential of herbs and how plant-based approaches can support both personal and planetary health.
In discussion with Dr Clayton Bell combining conventional medicine,
functional medicine and environmental awareness, especially in complex health contexts like oncology.
My last podcast with Dr Marion Steiner explored how reconnecting with nature can be an essential part of primary care and healing.
Thank you to every guest, listener, and member of the NCIM community for joining us on this journey – here’s to Season Two!
