Winter Boost Cordial

Ingredients

  • fresh (organic) ginger root
  • fresh (organic) turmeric roots
  • fresh (organic, unwaxed) lemon rind
  • fresh (organic) orange rind
  • Cinnamon quill
  • Star Anise
  • Rosehips
  • Cardamon pods
  • Black peppercorns
  • Honey

Method

  • You can adjust the ingredients according to how much cordial you would like to make – I tend to use a large ginger root and two turmeric roots and cut them into smaller chunks. You can add the rind of one lemon, orange, fresh Rosehips, Star Anise, Cinnamon, Cardamon, and a couple of peppercorns into the saucepan, top up with filtered water and boil for 30 – 45 minutes in a medium-sized saucepan.
  • Turn off the heat and stir in honey to sweeten, or if you are vegan, leave this out or use a suitable alternative – perhaps agave syrup, stevia or coconut sugar.
  • Pour into glass bottles or other suitable containers, leave to cool and keep in the fridge for up to two weeks.
  • If you don’t have fresh turmeric or cannot get any cinnamon quills, do use them in powder form and stir them in at the end with the honey.
  • To drink, fill the bottom of your cup with cordial and top up with hot water and enjoy! Tastes good cold too!

Enjoy!
