Integrative Homeopathic Supportive Care in Oncology: Foundations and Clinical Principles

As healthcare professionals involved in oncology, we all face the same challenge: how to better support our patients beyond tumour control, addressing symptoms, quality of life, and overall well-being throughout the cancer journey.

Over the past two decades, supportive care has become a central component of oncology. At the same time, integrative oncology has progressively emerged, aiming to combine conventional cancer treatments with evidence-informed complementary approaches in a safe and patient-centred way. Within this context, homeopathy is used in several countries as part of supportive care, particularly to address treatment-related symptoms, enhance patient resilience, and take into account individual responses to cancer therapies.

However, the role of homeopathy remains debated, and its place is not yet clearly defined within international oncology guidelines. This raises important clinical questions: how can homeopathy be integrated into oncology care in a way that is safe, coherent, efficient, and meaningful for patients?

The aim of this session is not to oppose different medical approaches, but rather to explore how homeopathy may contribute to integrative oncology supportive care in a pragmatic and clinically relevant way.

We will begin by reviewing the principles underlying homeopathic supportive care in oncology, then explore the types of clinical situations in which it may be used, and finally discuss its potential role within an integrative model of care. This session will serve as a foundation for the more clinically oriented and interactive sessions that will follow in October.

Patients living with cancer need comprehensive care, as well as attentive listening, and a personalised approach to their experience. In this context, homeopathy can be considered as one of the components, with no known drug interactions and no significant side effects, contributing to their overall health and well-being.

About the masterclass

Dr Jean-Lionel Bagot is a leading clinician in the use of homeopathy to support symptom management in people affected by cancer and cancer treatments. His best-selling book, Cancer and Homeopathy, is widely regarded as a valuable resource within integrative oncology and is used by clinicians internationally to support patient care.

Homeopathy uses low-dose, activated natural substances that can be safely combined with conventional cancer treatments, making it a useful supportive approach for addressing treatment-related symptoms and improving quality of life.

In 2026, Dr Bagot will deliver two in-depth clinical teaching days with NCIM. These sessions will offer a practical, patient-centred exploration of symptom management, with time dedicated to understanding complex conditions such as peripheral neuropathy and how best to support recovery in clinical practice.

You may attend either day as a standalone option or join both days for a more comprehensive learning experience. Recordings will be available for participants who are unable to attend all sessions live.
